Meet Lys Marie Perhay

Q: What inspires you about Bremerton? ⁠

A: I love Bremerton, the city has a strong sense of identity. I appreciate its diversity and applicability. It feels like one of the last urban fingerprints as you head into the wilderness of the Olympic Penninsula.⁠

Q: What drew you to your medium? ⁠

A: One of my favorite mediums is gouache. It’s traditionally a jewelry rendering medium. I like to celebrate the items I paint in this rich, and layered paint elevating them to a gem like status.⁠

Q: What is your favorite local spot? ⁠

A: My favorite local spot is Corvo! It’s cozy, inclusive, and has the best coffee in Kitsap County!⁠

Q: Where do you find inspiration? ⁠

A: I find inspiration in the plants and animals of the state as well as small objects other people make. I often arrange them into still life’s that describe the day and place I encounter them. ⁠
