Meet Gian Magana

Gian Magana

Q: What inspires you about Bremerton?

A: Cherry Blossoms at Olympic College and waiting for a ferry ride to Seattle. I often take thousands of RAW images. But I do believe making a genuinely good picture does take a while. There are no shortcuts. You have to leave your worries about money, women, and relationships and try to photograph the scenes in the now.

Q: What drew you to your medium?

A: I moved from Guam to the Pacific Northwest at the end of 2022. A candid photograph I had from high school inspired me to take more photographs.

Q:  My favorite local spot:

A: A sunny spring bus riding Route 23 from East Bremerton to Silverdale. The Kariotis route is kind of my "second office". Taking pictures from inside a Gillig bus on a sunny weather wheeling through McWilliams Road.

Q:  Where do I find inspiration?

A:  I never carry a flash and like to get in close to capture a moment's essence. I am inspired by American street photographer Bruce Gilden and his spontaneous capture style. I like to capture candid photographs of my subjects.

Q: Where can we see more of your work?

A: Visit my Instagram/Threads - @gianpeter.magana and find me on Flickr -https://www.flickr.com/people/gianmagana_fotos/
