We are excited to introduce you to local artist Erika Harada! Q: What inspires you about Bremerton? A: Bremerton is inspiring to me because it is such a gem. It's got urban grit, many different cultures, nature and its beauty all in one place. Q: What drew you to your medium? A: I was drawn to printmaking and hand-dyeing because they require basically everything to be done by hand. I was a designer working digitally most of my working life, so having to re-learn analog ways of making art was a challenge and also so rewarding. Q: What is your favorite local spot? A: I can't choose just one -- Khao Soi, Saboteur and Ashley's! There are many more places I love but those are probably my top three food and drink joints. Q: Where do you find inspiration? A: I find inspiration in interacting with nature most of all, but lately also in people and hearing their stories. Maybe it is because I love folklore and its connection to the bigger world. Q: What does your perfect First Friday look like? A: One where I can meet lots of interesting people of different artistic traditions and learning more about them! Q: Where can we find more of your art? A: @kimagureya_ on Instagram :)
