Meet Caleb Tucker

Q: What inspires you about Bremerton?
A: I love walking Illahee. It is phenomenal to have a state park in Bremerton’s backyard. Taking an Illahee, Lions Park, Evergreen Park, Downtown and Boardwalk, Sinclair Inlet excursion then heading over to Gold Creek/Green Mountain showcases Bremerton’s beauty and inspiration.
Q: What drew you to your medium?
A: I wanted an art form that I could take on hikes that allowed me to take the time to absorb the surroundings - natural, urban, or other. Watercolor is also a challenging medium that can be unpredictable and immutable forcing me as the artist to give away some of the control - and the stress that is bound to it. When I am able to take in the environment and stop trying to force an outcome I find the real beauty of watercolor, and the enjoyment of painting in this medium.
Q: What does your perfect First Friday look like?
A: Threatening PNW light rain showers and crisp. The enthusiasts are excited and have their whole art crawl planned, knowing that the spark of spontaneity will divert them through newly discovered displays, vendors, and restaurants. The hosts and artists are warm and welcoming, but they, too, occasionally stray away from their homebase to connect with an artist next door or down the street. I could be showing, or one of the revelers - for the perfect First Friday, just to be a part of it makes it for me.
Q: Where can we find more of your art?
A: I am still expanding my footprint but I am on Instagram @calebtucker.360. On First Fridays I am honored to be hosted by Mckenzie Eddy at Craft Hair Studio in the Charleston District @crafthairstudionw @mckenzieeddyhair where I show jointly with the exquisite Michelle Evangeline Jewelry @michelleevangelinejewelry.
