The Movie
Welcome to Opening Night of Movies in the Square! Kick off your summer with Shrek, the Oscar-winning animated classic that turned the fairy tale genre completely upside down. This story follows Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers), a grumpy green ogre who cherishes the quiet solitude of his swamp. His peaceful life is hilariously disrupted when a horde of banished fairy-tale creatures takes over his home, exiled by the villainous, pint-sized Lord Farquaad. To win his swamp back, Shrek strikes a deal to rescue the fierce and beautiful Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) from a fire-breathing dragon. Tagging along for the ride is Donkey (Eddie Murphy), an endlessly talkative, hyperactive companion who forces his way into Shrek’s heart.
Filled with iconic pop anthems, brilliant adult-friendly humor, and slapstick fun for the kids, Shrek is a heartwarming celebration of self-acceptance and finding beauty beneath the surface. It’s the ultimate feel-good movie to watch under the open sky! Show up early to grab your spot and treat yourself to the visiting ice cream truck before the film. Bring the whole family for an unforgettable night of laughter!
